The name Costa Calida translates to 'Warm Coast' due to it's warmer than average temperatures and an annual rainfall of less than 34 cm.
The Costa Calida lies directly below Costa Brava and is within easy reach of both Alicante and Murcia airports.
It enjoys the same warm year long temperatures of it's more famous neighbour but is a far more relaxed and less commercial than the Costa Brava.
The average annual temperature for the region is 18C, with summers reaching a maximum of 40C, and enjoys around 2,400 hours of sunshine per year.
The region extends from El Mojon on the Valencia border to Aguilas in the south, bordering on the region of Almeria. The region takes in the cities of
Murcia, Cartegena, Mazarron and the world famous La Manga strip as well as Aledo the Spanish city made famous by El Cid.
As well as being a perfect place to take a beach holiday it is full of history having being occupied by the Romans, Catharginians led by Hannibal and
the Moors before becoming an important region of Spain.
The Costa Calida incorporates the Mar Menor, or litte sea. Eurpoes largest salt water lagoon, reknowned for it's therapeutic mud which is used to treat a wide range
of ailments including rheumatism and skin complaints.
